GIS Social Coordinator: The Biggest Geo-Blunder Yet
Looking ahead to potential shindigs for 2007 to attend and plan for, the GIS Social Coordinator has stumbled upon some serious overlapping events:
June 2007 18 to 22: ESRI International Users Conference, San Diego 19 & 20: Where 2.0, San JoseUh-oh! Someone has really screwed the pooch on this one. I mean, what gives Tim & Jack? Decide to tear apart the geospatial community into two parts during the same week in June in California? Ok, granted the common person at the UC wouldn't know what the Where group is doing, and the Where group doesn't want to be associated too much with the ESRI group, but c'mon! I talked about ships passing in the night and this is a blatanly an attempt in both camps to trump one another out. BTW: The world must be ending soon, Brian Goldin's last day is Friday. The National Geographic Travelall is for sale, and now we find out about this scheduling snaffu. Plus, my prediction about a pending absorbsion of Intergraph into Sony that will happen in February 2007. . . It's shear madness. Anyway, it looks like the GIS Social Coordinator is going to have to schedule a meetup for the first Monday after the Planary. Then I hope Rob and Company are willing to take the show up to San Jose the next night with me. I just may have to buy that Travelall afterall. [Sigh.] See, this is why you need a GIS Social Coordinator. I wonder if I need to defend my Pixie Hunt title? Wouldn't be cool to make it a two day event at two different events?
